Riga. In line with its tradition, Latvia’s national airline airBaltic is aiming to delight everyone with unique Christmas greetings again this year. This greeting was projected on the company’s aircraft at the Riga International Airport which appear to show elves preparing for Christmas inside the cabin. These have delighted several hundred passengers, and tens of thousands of people have enjoyed the projections on the Youtube in just a few days’ time. Last year the airBaltic Christmas campaign involved a competition in which people were asked to bet when a reindeer at the Riga Zoo, Lācis, would shed its antlers. The winner of the competition won two tickets to any airBaltic destination. Almost 20,000 bets were placed and 72,000 people watched Lācis live on the Internet via webcams. In 2009, the main element of the Christmas campaign was Santa Claus. He helped Internet users to spin a globe and determine where customer should go next. The campaign won the “Best Internet Campaign of the Year” award in the Webbies Awards – a competition organized each year by the world’s leading publisher of aviation-related materials, Flightglobal. Also the campaign won the Silver Hammer award in the Golden Hammer 2010 Awards Interactive media category for excellence and outstanding creativity.
